I mentioned this a few months ago. The version of the pilot that was floating around over the summer was godawful. Colm Meany played Gene Hunt, and it was such a terrible miscasting.
I just read that it's now Harvey Keitel? I may have to Tivo it.

no no no. That wouldn't work at all. Keitel, on the other hand is interesting.
I still have a feeling that the show's going to make me want to fly Philip Glennister to the States so he can kick some people in the nuts.

I don't see how they can drag this one lame schtick through a whole season.
Well, the BBC version managed 2 pretty good seasons.
The success of the BBC version rested almost entirely on Phillip Glennister's shoulders. The show was really just an homage to 70s cop shows, but Glennister handing out/threatening beatings to everyone and anyone was what made the show so great. The "schtick" was almost an afterthought.
