MR. BRETT'S HOUSE FOR SALE???

My Dad said taht if someone is selling a house now they need money.

The Bad Religion guitarist's four-bedroom, three-story home sits on over half an acre and features an outdoor gym, a pool, spa and waterfall.

By Ann Brenoff

February 17, 2009
Epitaph Records owner and Bad Religion guitarist Brett Gurewitz has listed his Hollywood Hills home for sale at $2,795,000.

The four-bedroom, 4 1/2 bathroom home was built in 1923. The three-story Spanish-style house is hidden from the street by a long, gated driveway, has 3,429 square feet and sits on more than a half-acre. There are views of downtown from the master bedroom suite and the high-ceiling living room has a fireplace. The bathrooms and kitchen have been remodeled, and the kitchen features Viking appliances. There is an outdoor gym, a saltwater pool and spa, a waterfall and an outdoor dining pavilion.

Gurewitz, 46, grew up in Woodland Hills and started Epitaph Records as a vehicle for selling Bad Religion records. The company has evolved into a large independent label; most of its music is alternative rock, hard-core punk and hip-hop. Bad Religion's music has included "The Process of Belief" (2002), "The Empire Strikes First" (2004) and "New Maps of Hell" (2007).

James Foreman of Sotheby's International Realty, Sunset Boulevard, has the listing.

WOW. THIS PLACE IS REAL NICE. NOT VERY PUNK LOOKING.

It was probably worth $5 mil a year ago. Hey, good for him. This wasn't daddy's money; he earned that house. Signed (and sold) the right bands...yet somehow, considering his rep for intoxicants, he was able to save and invest wisely. Or at least someone helped him do it.

'Tis the American way...

I won't be surprised to se him getting close to asking price.
The upscale housing marekwet is one that's actually doing ok.
Multi million dollar homes in desireable locations are still selling.

Though I didn't know Brett (he was 3 years older than me), he lived on the street above me. I think his sister was in my grade and we all went to El Camino High School, the fishbone guys were in my class?

We used to see the tour bus parked in front of his house all the time.

Here in NYC prices are getting sliced and diced everyday. Even the Hamptons is going through a major price slashing. This is not a seller's market. It's not a buyer's market either. It is a "no market."

Alot of people are downsizing these days. No one needs 3, 4 cars anymore, unused space. Maybe he is on a Slim Fast purge including the crib? Not out of line for anyone these days.

We're in the same position.
Don't need or want the 4 bedroom home we have right now.
Would rather have a small cozy 2 bedroom, and no mortgage.
