Aerosmith ready to Draw the Line
Steven Tyler eyes solo projects
By Inside Track
Thursday, November 5, 2009 - Added 10h ago

Is Aerosmith taking a Permanent Vacation?

Steven Tyler told a United Kingdom magazine he plans on pursuing solo projects for the foreseeable future, and his bandmates are talking openly of replacing their longtime lead singer.

I dont know what Im doing yet, Tyler told Classic Rock magazine, but its definitely going to be something Steven Tyler, working on the brand of myself. Brand Tyler, he said.

Meanwhile, his bandmates - who have told Tyler they dont plan to work with him again until he straightens up and sobers up - plan to reconvene after doing shows in Hawaii and Dubai and discuss the future of the 40-year-old rock n roll institution.

That could include either the announcement of a long hiatus or even possibly include carrying on with a new lead vocalist, Classic Rock reported.

It would largely depend on who we could get and who would want to do it. Thats big shoes to fill, guitarist Brad Whitford said. Nobody could replace Steven or imitate him, hes one of a kind. But if somebody was willing to do it and the chemistry was right, why not?

The chemistry with Tyler has apparently been wrong for a while. According to the report, during their last three shows, none of the band saw the frontman until the opening number and Stevens dressing room was located quite a distance from the rest of the group.

-----

Kinda sad, but they had like 3 careers and a few lines of Salsa.

It's kinda sad that I don't even feel the slightest bit offended by the idea that they are planning to tour as "Aerosmith" without Tyler. It actually almost makes sense. First they brought in co-writers, then they re-wrote entire albums at Sony's behest, now they are little more than a lucrative brand. Rock and roll has become so pitiful.

Tell that to Journey (come to think of it, I'll bet Steve Perry could handle "Dream On")

I blame Mark Hudson (rock's best sycophant) and Steven's divorce in 2006 as the main culprits. I love this band from 1973-1978, and a lot of "Pump"(1989) was pretty good too, but sweet suffering Jesus they have become a sad state in the last 10-15 years. Aerosmith had the greatest and longest running comeback in rock history, but this milk is expired.

how very "Lady Sings The Blues" of Mr. Tyler....
if he was concerned with the brand, it should have become Steven Tyler and Aerosmith many years ago,in anticipation of this event..
the Berry Gordy school of thought is never wrong..
