I guess it's in the ear of the beholder, and our personal take on things; there's no definitive answer, but, to me.... Bowie, who I was 'gaga' crazed over as the 'leader of the pack' was guitar powered pop,be it "Changes", "Starman","Drive In Saturday", any of the UK singles chart toppers, but rocknroll? NAH!!! rocknroll? at the time, Iggy & The Stooges,the early primtivism of Wayne County, and,of course, the 1972 model New York Dolls; that's rocknroll....Bowie could only peer through the glass at the party going on,while his party was happening in another universe.. Bowie and Lambert, who will eventually write his own opus, have lots in common... and as i recall, one of Bowie's pre MainMan singles was an Alvin & the Chipmuncks knock off called "The Laughing Gnome"... Adam will find his way, and in the internet era, he can't be knocked off the hill by a resistent media, the way so many of the first glam wave were dispensed with in America...
